Success for Sunderland Stars

After a long day at Euro 2016 there has been success in the Sunderland camp. Out of all three players attending the tournament from our team we didn’t experience a single loss in the opening games!

First up was the Ireland vs Sweden game in which John O’Shea captained the Irish side to an unfortunate draw against Seb Larssons Swedish team. Fantastic marking saw O’Shea dominate Ibrahimovic for the whole 90 minutes whilst Larsson almost bagged a goal for the Swedish side. It ended in a 1-1 draw after a stunning Ireland goal and an unfortunate own goal equaliser.

However the most successful story came from Manu Giaccherini as he bagged man of the match for his stunning performance. Playing for Italy he managed to score the first of the match against Belgium, the highest ranked team in the competition. This led to him receiving the honour of Man of the match and showing his skill as a player in a 2-0 victory that sent Italy to the top of their group!

Congratulations to all three players!
